Diamonds of Palo Alto Custom Wedding and engagement sets

Our engagement ring buying process is second-to-none. We have worked with hundreds of grooms-to-be, and can work with you to find the ring that will steal her heart -- but stay within your budget.

Your first step is to determine how much you can spend. DeBeers suggests two months salary and that has become the norm, but it really should be what you can afford. Whatever it is, it will be special.

Your second step is to pick the diamond you want. Start by reviewing the 4 “C’s” of diamonds. Before making your decision. Many people will sacrifice color and quality for size, but the decision is ultimately yours.

Your Next Step is to determine her ring size –you don’t have to be exact, but during that special moment, you want to know that the ring will fit her finger. Here are some tips for finding her ring size -remember the ring finger on the left hand is the one you want!

Tips for Finding Her Ring Size

Best Case –Borrow the real thing
The safest course of action is to bring in one of her rings. This is often hard to do without raising suspicion. If you can’t borrow a ring for an afternoon, try offering to take her jewelry to be cleaned.

Next Best Case –Make a trace
Trace the inside of the ring on a piece of paper. This can be used to create an accurate measurement.

If you can’t do the above -Try her ring on yourself
Put one of her rings on your own finger. Push it down as far as it will go and then mark the spot with a pen. Then just show us the marking and we can measure it for you.

If all else fails – Ask a friend
A friend of your loved one can be of great assistance in this particular endeavor. It's not uncommon for one friend to ask another for their ring size as a matter of curiosity. Just be sure you choose a friend who can keep a secret.

The Setting

Custom wedding settingsIf you don’t know what setting she will like, don’t worry. We will set it in a standard "Tiffany" setting for the proposal. After she responds with a resounding "yes!" we can work with you both to locate the perfect setting for your stone... or, in many cases, we will custom design a setting in gold or platinum. Whatever we can do to make you -- and your bride -- happy.

Finally, you will want to plan for a special time to pop the question. Common locations are at the end of a nice dinner, a romantic walk at sunset or at a location that has sentimental meaning for both of you. Wherever you choose, the moment will be etched in both of your hearts forever.
